Iran ‘Retouch’ picks up Silver Dragon from Poland

 Iranian short film ‘Retouch’ has been named the best short fiction film at the 57th Krakow Film Festival in Poland.

The film’s director, Kaveh Mazaheri was awarded the Silver Dragon for the director of the best short fiction film at the Polish festival on June 4.

"The Silver Dragons are the awards given to the best short films at the festival, representing all film genres of the competition," the fest website read.

In addition, the International Federation of Film Societies (FICC) which is the global body for film societies decided to grant the Don Quixote Award to the Iranian film.

‘Retouch’ has previously won Crystal Simorgh for Best Short Film at Fajr Film Festival as well as grabbing the best short title from Iran Cinema Celebration.

Produced by the Iranian Young Cinema Society, ‘Retouch’ is about a young woman whose husband dies before her eyes and she just observes the tragic scene.

Krakow Film Festival is one of the oldest events in Europe dedicated to documentary, animated and short feature films. Its core consists of four competitions of equal rank: documentary film competition, short film competition, national competition and music documentary film competition DocFilmMusic.

This year, about 1800 short feature films, 500 documentary films and 300 animated films were submitted to the competition. In the competition, 32 films will be shown, including 5 from Poland.

The 57th edition of Krakow Film Festival was held May 28 through June 4, 2017 in Krakow, Poland.
